What is Microsoft Exchange? Microsoft Exchange is an email server that is currently being used by high percentage of businesses today. The reason for its popularity is that Exchange is very scalable, secure, reliable, and functional. Exchange allows your employees to collaborate as a team and share contacts, calendars, email, tasks and notes. Additionally, Exchange allows you to use as many computers as you would like...and the information in Outlook is the same on every one! Our Hosted Exchange is also accessible through the web.
How is Exchange different than a POP3 server? POP3 only caters to email, not contacts, calendars tasks, or notes. That means that although you are able to receive email on your computer, all the contacts, calendars, tasks, and notes are stored locally on your computer. If your hard drive crashes or your computer/laptop is lost/broken, you would lose everything. With Exchange, since a mirror copy of your mailbox is stored on the Exchange server, you are able to both retrieve and check your information from different locations at any time.
What is needed to get Exchange service started? In order to utilize hosted Exchange with Netstandard, your company will need a domain that you own (or that you are at least able to control the DNS records). If you do not own a domain, we recommend that you purchase one at one of the many companies like Godaddy.com (usually about $10).
Will my Outlook look any different? Nope! Your Outlook will exactly the way it does without Exchange.
How does NetStandard handle email migrations? NetStandard starts the email migration process by setting up the account in our portal. Then, depending on if you choose a self-serve migration or full migration, we begin migrating email from your current system to our system. If you choose self-service, we will provide the licenses and log in information, and you will handle the email migration. If you choose the full migration, we take care of the migration for you. Once the migration is complete, the DNS records are changed and we do a final pass to get all emails onto our system. After the DNS records are changed, you can start adding new profiles to Outlook and setting up your mobile devices.
How is security handled? Each company is setup to have its own space on our hosted system. Emails are encrypted from Exchange to Outlook, and if an external email needs to be encrypted, we offer that service (free of charge) with our spam filtering service.
How do I alter a mailbox for each employee? Netstandard provides a web-based Customer Portal that is accessible from any web browser at any time. This enables you to add/remove/edit users, mailbox access levels and mailbox size. You can add/remove aliases and distribution lists. In the web-based portal, you can even enable add-on features, add contacts to the Global Address List, set up forwarding, and much more!
How many people can have administrator privileges in the Myappsanywhere Customer Portal? The Control Panel allows you to assign admin privileges to as many people as you would like. In the user’s profile, simply check the box that says "grant admin privileges." That's it!
Does Exchange allow my company to share information? Yes. With Full Access accounts, you are able to share contacts, calendars, emails, and tasks with others in your domain.
