What are Managed Services?
As a definition, Managed Services can mean different things depending on the industry. With information services and information technology, Managed Services consists of a service provider managing the IT structure of another organization. This can involve the hardware, the software or both.
Isn’t this just a fancy term for outsourcing?
Managed Services isn’t about outsourcing. It ultimately results in deciding where hardware and systems should be located. But initially, Managed Services is a process. Your current IT capabilities are analyzed and your future needs are projected. The final recommendations are what NetStandard considers to be best for your business.
This may involve an outsourcing model, where NetStandard assumes control of your hardware and systems and NetStandard’s engineers maintain everything. In that model staff would be eliminated. However, a hybrid model may work best for your business, where your current IT staff maintains part of your system on-site and NetStandard handles the other part.
Will I have to fire my IT department if I go to Managed Services?
There is no single Managed Services model that will work for all businesses. As stated above, a hybrid solution may work best. If your IT staff excels at maintaining and troubleshooting your applications, then keeping them in place may work best. If maintaining and expanding your network is an issue, then NetStandard can manage this, keeping your staff doing what they do best.
What is Software as a Service? Is it related to Managed Services?
Software as a Service is a component of Managed Services. NetStandard can host your software applications and deliver them over a network. This can include desktop applications such as Microsoft Office or a web-based application.
How much do Managed Services cost? Are there “extras” that I have to pay?
One of the main benefits of Managed Services is that you pay a fixed monthly fee, determined by your technology needs. The fee includes everything, including component updates or replacement, so you will not be charged any extras.
