We are very grateful for all the small business here tonight.
At The Chamber, small business is a big deal. It's the engine that drives the local economy and about 93% of our members are classified as small businesses.
Each year, The Chamber holds what has become the largest celebration of small business in the nation. Nominations for Greater Kansas City's outstanding small businesses open in October, with three months of activities from March through May. The year's Top 10 Small Businesses are named in April; one of those 10 is presented the Mr. K Award as the Small Business of the Year at a May celebration finale. The Mr. K Award is named after famed Kansas City entrepreneur Ewing Kauffman.
