CEO, Founding Partner

Jeff Melcher is CEO of NetStandard Inc. and has been contributing to the state economy and area job growth as a successful entrepreneur since 1987. As CEO of NetStandard, an outsourced technology company, Melcher regularly consults with businesses to improve operational efficiency.

Melcher holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Missouri School of Science and Technology. Walt Lane

President, Founding Partner

Walt Lane is President of NetStandard Inc. and a founding partner of the company. Lane oversees NetStandard’s sales and marketing divisions, where his leadership has contributed to 15 consecutive years of notable growth for NetStandard—a credit Lane attributes to the quality of his staff and executive team.

Lane has extensive experience in entrepreneurship and emerging technologies. He is a serial entrepreneur who has been involved in the founding of more than five successful startup companies over the course of his career. Noted as a visionary person for his ability to recognize emerging technologies that increase efficiency or improve function, Lane knows how to capitalize on new opportunities time and time again.

Lane’s first startup, TFSnet Inc., was Kansas City’s first privately owned internet service provider (ISP) and web hosting service. Lane built Kansas City’s first ISP from the ground up with a staff of highly qualified Unix engineers, and during this time, his company was ranked 22 in the top 100 online service providers in the United States. While Lane was rapidly growing his ISP, he was asked to speak at many public and business local and national events to educate the community on how the internet can be used in the home and business. The business was later sold to a local CLEC at the peak of the dot-com bubble.

Lane regularly shares his expertise in entrepreneurship and startup technologies with universities, entrepreneurial events at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, business development initiatives and service organizations. He is a 1984 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Marketing and a member of the Management Advisory Board for Kansas State University’s College of Business Administration. Outside of the office, Lane expresses his passion for technology through home automation and has designed complex systems for significant homes and commercial properties in the area.
